In the age of digital and technology, one of today’s biggest concerns is that people will quickly begin to lose their jobs to artificial intelligence and automation.
But Marc Benioff is determined to overcome this with the Trailhead training program. Originally developed to teach customers how to use the company’s software tools, it is now also offering courses on management and philanthropy, and reached a massive 1 million users this month.
Through Trailhead comes the ability to develop skills for other jobs – whether that’s an administrator, a developer, or a technical architect – in order to fill the estimated 3.3. million jobs that are set to be created in the “Salesforce ecosystem” by 2022.
“We’re not going to automate people out of jobs, we’re going to bring people to the new jobs that are being created.”
It’s certainly refreshing to see that Salesforce has an answer to a pretty precarious scenario; one in which we innovate to such a degree that individuals are no longer needed to maintain the technology we have created. By providing access to a free learning service, Salesforce is ensuring that everyone has access to the skills they need to remain relevant now, and in the future.
