Last week, Cisco announced their first hybrid solution for Kubernetes in AWS. This solution makes it easier for customers to run production grade Kubernetes on premise, and the move comes as more and more businesses look to gain a competitive advantage by harnessing cutting-edge technologies, platforms and applications to reach their customers quicker and more effectively. The announcement got me wondering how this solution will influence the DevOps and Cloud space…
The benefits of this solution are as follows:
- Enables developers to increase efficency and reduce time-to-market, because contarised applications can be deployed, and are easier to manage for both the AWS Cloud and on premise.
- On-hands support from Cisco during all parts of their solution enables businesses and organisastions to remaind connected at all time.
- This solution will reduce both complexity and costs for IT operations departments – an obvious advtange at a time when digital transformation costs are soaring as more and more businesses try to play catch up.
- Finally, the management of on-premises Kubernetes infrastructure is made simple with a common set of tools on-premises and on AWS.
Personally, I think this solution has great potential and I cant wait for it to dominate the cloud space, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on how Cisco’s move is going to influence the ecosystem.
