In March this year as we are all probably aware by now, Salesforce paid a jaw dropping $6.5 billion for our beloved MuleSoft. This left us all wondering – what did integration have to do with CRM software?
Since Salesforce’s Dreamforce conference in San Fran a few weeks ago we have come to learn a little more about where MuleSoft fits in.
The key takeaways of the newly formed relationship are that MuleSoft is staying independent under the Salesforce umbrella and Salesforce launching an Integration Cloud product underpinned by Mulesoft technology.
Remaining neutral will be key to Mulesoft’s continuing growth as a software company, but so will Salesforce and the ‘rocket fuel’ it can bring to reach more customers, as Greg Schott, MuleSoft CEO put it:
“They have 20 times as many sales reps as we do, so they are passing a tremendous amount of leads our way,”
I for one am really excited about what the future holds for both companies and the opportunities that it will create for everyone involved in the community. It may or may not be a result of the aquisition but I am already seeing a demand for MuleSoft skills increase dramatically.
